Position Description:
Soltage is seeking an experienced energy industry professional to join our Battery Energy Storage team as a Storage Development Associate. The Storage Development Associate will help develop, manage, and bring energy storage projects to completion in selected markets across the US. The Storage Development Associate will report to the Vice President of Battery Storage. The position is designed for the Associate to grow into more senior roles over time as the Storage team expands across markets and builds out its track record of successful projects.
Job Responsibilities:
The developer will be instrumental in helping to expand Soltage’s existing pipeline of storage projects in urban centers in the Northeast as well as other markets in the US over time. The work will include efforts in the following activity areas:
- Preliminary project conceptual design:
- Collaborate with internal and external engineering resources to evaluate site limitations; review economic and other project goals; and make equipment supply selections.
- Develop site layout plans, electrical line diagrams and preliminary schedules.
- Interconnection, permitting, and public incentive processes:
- (With support from internal and external resources) Create interconnection and permitting applications and successfully guide them through the process with utilities and other Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s).
- Write and successfully manage applications for grant programs and other public incentives.
- Project pipeline:
- Support the origination of new project opportunities through desk research, networking events, cold calls, site visits, and meetings.
- Create pitch presentations with project descriptions and visual representations.
- Manage relationships with external engineers and consultants.
Experience and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, Civil or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience with development and electric grid interconnections.
- Thorough understanding of electric grid systems.
- Basic understanding of battery energy storage systems and the dynamics of interconnecting and operating Distributed Energy Resources (DER’s).
- Experience using 3D software (such as Sketchup).
- Ability to use or learn to use analytical, geospatial, engineering design, and other software tools.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and writing).
- Desire and ability to develop, maintain, and grow a network of industry professionals.
- Ability to be a self-starter to combine productivity with responsibility and attention to detail.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of Soltage’s headquarters in Jersey City, New Jersey.
